Should You Book Your Ski Holiday Accommodation Early

The past couple of years having been very difficult for the travel industry, owing to the global crisis and recessions that have affected Europe and U.S. in particular. It's no different for the those seeking to make a living from the winter ski season, it is reported to be extremely difficult.
As visitors hold firmly onto their hard earned cash, this is the time of year that ski holiday companies start to attract interest in visitors wishing to book their skiing holidays for the 2010 / 2011 winter skiing season.
Although numerous ski travel companies went into liquidation during recent years, there will inevitably still be a huge amount of competition as the companies who remain in the sector fight for a slice of the action.
The luxury end of the market is expected to be hit extremely hard, for obvious reasons. In contrast, budget ski holiday accommodation is expected to fair the best. The businesses that are still in existence will be looking to rely somewhat on repeat business and will call on the visitors who made bookings in the previous year.
There will need to be some extra special incentives to lure the customers back to the same place, for a second year, when there is a huge amount of choice for ski chalets in France, Austria, Switzerland being the main resorts of Europe. It's a similar outlook in Northern America.
It remains to be said that those ski companies that manage to survive the 2010 / 2011 ski season will no doubt come out the other end very strong and will be well placed to grow further and survive for many years to come.
There is some good news for people who do have some spare cash and want to book ski chalets. The advantage of booking early is there are lots of companies that want to secure some business and as a result are offering some excellent discounts to those willing to book early. Your early deposits will help the ski companies survive, as they eagely await the peak booking period for ski holiday bookings.
There used to be a trend whereby visitors make their bookings last minute, but it has already been reported that some European and North American ski companies are offering huge discounts for early bookings that far outweigh the costs for any last minute plans.
Now is a great time to book an overall ski holiday package and also obtain a fantastic deal for ski lift passes, flights and ski chalets.

  1. Until the middle of this year, I was working in travel and hospitality industry. It seems that this year, 95% of the customers were booking last minute.

  4. I agree with Cafe Bruges that you can't benefit from recession so much anymore. Also prices for tourism services are incresing. I go to ski holiday every year and comparing prices what I could get in season 2009/2010 and this season I must say difference is noticable. Bad for travellers, but great for tourism companies.

  5. Me and my family, we are living at the seaside and usually we miss the ski holidays. However, this year I book our vacation earlier and I am sure we will have great time.

  6. Of course it is better to book it early but only if you can find a really good deal with lower rates. There is always risk of extremely bad weather, or some unpredicted stuff can pop out and you need to cancel so it is good to check cancellation policy also while booking in advanced. Booking early brings one more advantage - you have bigger choice.
